Jane Spencer Mills
Jane started singing with the Michigan Opera Theater because her mother really didn’t know what else to do with her. After a series of children’s roles, she was hooked! Weekly voice lessons and touring with her church choir ensued and after a brief stint in college in Massachusetts, she moved to San Francisco and joined the Symphony Chorus. Since that time, she has joined and is currently actively singing with the International Orange Chorale of San Francisco and sings with her parish choir at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. Her solo performances focus on 20th and 21st Century Art Song (Heggie and Barber are favorites) and when colleagues send her new pieces, she is eager to perform and share their new creations. She currently studies with Kathy McKee Roberts.
Always a serious hobby, music fills much of her week. That said, her paying gig is teaching other people’s teenagers Japanese language and geometry in Millbrae. Never a dull moment! When not singing or teaching, she can be found with spouse and/or daughter at the wide variety of excellent cafes and restaurants around our fair city. When possible, she travels. Kyoto, Lisbon, San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City are favorite destinations.
